Description

Rutilated Quartz l and Lapis Cushion Cabochon Doublet – 12mm.  Single stone.

Our cabochons have been custom cut with high domes which is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also make for a more durable gemstone.  They also come with a stunning polish and perfectly flat bases to make setting as simple as possible.

Doublets

While the top gives a beautiful polish, the lapis backing provides a beautiful rich blue colour.  These bad boys look like lapis on steroids!

The stones are created in much the same way as opal doublets, with a fine layer of epoxy cementing the two layers together. Because of the epoxy, it is important not to heat the stone (hot water is fine for when using thermoplastic for setting) and not to soak the stones in acetone / denatured alcohol. It is also advisable not to use a steam cleaner or ultrasonic with these stones.

Although these stones have been custom made to our specifications, our manufacturer has made similar doublets for many large, high-end silver jewellery designers in the past, so you can rest assured of the quality.

Shipping

We will ship from our studio in Malaysia within 4 working days. Parcels are expected to take around two to three weeks to arrive if you live in major cities in the US or UK, but they can take longer for the rest of the world and remote locations. While we ship everything via DHL Express, we cannot guarantee that shipments will arrive within any time frame, but please do contact us if you haven’t received your parcel after 6 weeks and we’ll happily look into it.
